Our premium quality Kolam rice is easy to cook if you follow the below steps-
Rinse the rice grains thoroughly under running water to remove the excess starch and dirt accumulated while the rice is processed.
This step is optional, where you can soak the rice grains for about 1 to 2 hours to remove the phytic acid content in the rice grains. This step ensures the rice is cooked perfectly and gives an added softness to it.
In a pot, add 3 cups of water to 1 cup of the rinsed and soaked rice and bring to boil. While it is being boiled in the pot, add a pinch of salt to ensure it does not get sticky.
After it boils, simmer the flame, cover the pot with a lid and cook for 15 to 20 minutes in low flame until the water is absorbed completely.
Turn off the flame after the brown rice cooked and can be checked the doneness when it gets mashed. This consistency shows the Kolam rice is perfectly cooked and rest.

Adjust your water-to-rice ratio as per your preference on the level of doneness of the rice.
Ensure that you do not stir the rice in the pot of water while it is in the process of cooking as you may risk breaking the rice grains in doing so.
