  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1-2 Dry red chilies
  • A pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)
  • 1-2 Green Chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves, chopped – to garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Cook the Rice

  1. Take 1 cup of rice and rinse it thoroughly to remove excess starch. This helps in making the rice fluffier when cooked.
  2. Add the rinsed rice and 2 cups of water to the pressure cooker. You can also add salt to taste according to your preference.
  3. Close the lid of the pressure cooker. Cook on medium flame for 3 whistles.
